Vallourec achieves new certification for bio-oil production
Aiming to contribute with the transformation of the market with increasingly sustainable processes, Vallourec South America’s Forestry unit is proud to announce that it has received the ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) for the production of bio-oil from renewable eucalyptus forests. We call it Carboval Bio-oil, generated by the continuous carbonization process we use for the production of biomass charcoal with zero methane emissions.
As well as being sustainable, Carboval Bio-oil is innovative, with authentic characteristics in terms of calorific value (PCI), viscosity and physical and chemical attributes that make it an excellent substitute for fossil fuels. Carboval Bio-oil has already been validated for use as fuel for Hot Gas Generators, boilers, industrial oil burners and in briquette manufacturing. It also has potential use as raw material for refining processes such as fluid catalytic cracking (FCC), which provides fuels and products for use in the petrochemical industry. As well as being a strong ally in industrial decarbonization, bio-oil also has potential use in food markets.
The ISCC Plus certification is another milestone that reinforces our commitment to decarbonization, providing sustainable and innovative solutions that help make energy transformation a reality in charcoal production.
Continuous carbonization technology, created and patented by the Company, contributes towards reducing global greenhouse gas emissions.
