2019 EcoVadis Gold Medal for our CSR policy

23/09/2019 – Environment

With a grade of 75/100, the Group was ranked in the top 5% of all companies assessed within the same industry.

This EcoVadis score is the combination of 21 different criteria covering four key topics - Environment, Social and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. In each of these areas, we came out ahead of all other companies assessed in our industry.

We're very proud of this medal, which recognizes the everyday engagement of all our employees. Our goal is to continue our efforts to sustain and spread the CSR culture within our Group. In doing so, we will be able to underpin our performance and make further improvements before the next awards period.
Rémi Dujon
Group General Counsel

A score consistent with the Group's commitments to CSR…

Our score perfectly aligns with our values. For several years now, the Group has engaged in improving CSR performance by integrating the highest standards in our strategy when it comes to safety, social and environmental policies.

In 2010, Vallourec signed up to the United Nations Global Compact and has since achieved an “advanced” rating. The Group is also a signatory to several commitments in favor of climate protection, the circular economy, as well as the International Steel Federation’s Sustainable Development Charter. In 2018, the Group received the Carbon Disclosure Project’s “A-” rating for the third time, recognizing our efforts towards creating a carbon-free economy.

In addition, the role of the Corporate CSR Committee, established in 2018 as part of the Supervisory Board, is to ensure that all these extra-financial issues are taken into account and can become real creators of value in themselves.

… in response to some considerable challenges

All these actions and results demonstrate the maturity of our Group in terms of CSR and help us position ourselves as a significant player in the energy transition.

This is a sector in which we’re already developing innovative solutions that are more respectful to the environment and more in line with market trends, such as our successes in the field of geothermal energy.

Respect for the environment, regardless of the inherent logic, is one of the conditions that investors are looking for and a major factor in the company's social bonds that contribute to giving everyone meaning in what they do.
