Celebrating excellence at Vallourec Saudi Arabia
During a recent multi-day visit to the Middle East, Vallourec’s Executive Committee, led by Philippe Guillemot, our Chairman and CEO, reasserted the company’s local presence in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai and Saudi Arabia and its commitment to bolstering technology in the region.
It was an opportunity to celebrate Vallourec Saudi Arabia’s (VSA) production facility in Dammam which has just achieved level 4 in lean manufacturing and industrial excellence – a first for the Group –, to inaugurate new facilities and to highlight the talent of local women.

Celebrating Industrial Excellence
The agenda was brimming with commitments. First, the dual celebration of the VSA plant’s success in Dammam, specially designed for heat-treating tubes and threading the full range of VAM® premium fittings. Its production site has just been recognized as a level 4 site of excellence in lean production and industrial excellence.
This success testifies to Vallourec's commitment to technological progress in the Kingdom. This dual success is even more remarkable given that level 4 is the highest level and that it is the Group's first plant to achieve this level of performance. Many thanks to all the teams involved.
Since the creation of VSA in 2014, the deployment of the VMS (Vallourec Management System) has been a major priority and key to the facility achieving the current level of excellence. IEMA (Industrial Excellence Maturity Assessment), an internal standard developed by Vallourec experts in continuous improvement, Lean and 6Sigma, defines four levels of maturity in order to assess operational excellence.
Key factors behind this success include the strong commitment of VSA’s management to the deployment of VMS, the harmonization of processes, daily management routines and proactive problem-solving. In addition, the active involvement of operators through GACs (continuous improvement groups) was a crucial element.
Celebrating the ramp-up of VSA
Another noteworthy event was the official opening of the new Danobat threading line, strategically shaped to meet Aramco’s demand for high-end OCTG. This marks an important milestone on the path to expanding and improving our operational capacity.
This cutting-edge line stands as a pivotal element within the VSA 100K project, designed with a clear objective: increase the plant’s production capacity from 60,000 to 100,000 tonnes annually, to meet growing market demand.
This expansion underscores our constant focus on innovation and operational excellence, enabling us to better serve our clients and meet their most demanding needs.
Furthermore, the visit of our Executive Committee included the inauguration of Aramco’s Tube Management Services (TMS) base. Tailored to optimize inventory management and streamline supply chain logistics, our TMS facility is poised to play a pivotal role – from storage to the drilling site – in proactively addressing the needs of this major client. This project aims to expand our range of services for Aramco, including drilling rig preparation and return, assembly make-up, bare coding of pipes, refurbishment, VAM® Field Service team support, and beyond.
Celebrating the talent of local female collaborators
Last but not least, Vallourec Saudi Arabia proudly celebrated International Women’s Day by honoring its talented women and recognizing their invaluable contributions to the Group.
