In Brazil, Vallourec’s Maintenance Academy trains over 1,000 employees to enhance operational excellence
Since its creation in 2020, the Maintenance Academy has been a fundamental program for the development of our Brazilian employees. With the aim of qualifying the team in the maintenance areas, training is applied using real examples of situations and problems faced in the field, allowing the exchange of solutions, knowledge and experience. This aims to improve maintenance indicators through a more qualified workforce.
To date, more than 1,000 employees have participated in the classes offered, which are divided into four pillars:
- Technical Training School: technical training focusing on mechanics and electricians to carry out maintenance activities.
- Specialist Training: training related to maintenance management.
- Management School: VMMS training – Maintenance Management System.
- Operation School: training of operators aligned with the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program.
In 2023 and 2024, participants accumulated over 30,000 hours of training, with 95.5% satisfaction. These impressive figures reflect the work of a team made up of around 35 people, including instructors on all topics and employees in the training and maintenance areas.
Technical School Graduation
On Friday, September 13th, the participants of the last edition of the Maintenance Academy and part of the team involved in the program gathered at the Cine Theatro Brasil Vallourec, in Belo Horizonte, to celebrate the class’ graduation.
The 115 graduates participated in a breakfast followed by the diploma ceremony. The People Director, Adriani Damazio, opened the event by reinforcing our Company’s commitment to developing and valuing its employees, as they are the ones who help us overcome challenges and build Vallourec’s future.
For Elias Ferreira, Maintenance technician on the Non-Destructive Testing Maintenance team and graduate, the Academy was a turning point in his professional and personal life.
“I was going through a delicate period in my career that affected my daily life both inside and outside the company. When I received the news that I had been chosen to participate in the Academy, it brought me the joy I needed! At the Academy, I was able to review technical concepts and expand my network, surrounding myself with magnificent people. I am immensely grateful to each student and each person who contributed to making this one of the best experiences of my life in seven years at Vallourec.”
After the diplomas were awarded, some students were recognized as standouts of the course, and received tribute videos from their families. Vivian Nascimento, a Maintenance Technician in the Lamination area in Jeceaba, was one of the standout students and share her experience:
“You can never learn too much, from the most experienced to the most novice, make the most of it. The Maintenance Academy adds to this: dynamic, practical, with examples of local applications and excellent instructors, it’s incredible! The opportunity to participate in the Academy was wonderful, and at our graduation, being surprised as one of the highlights, receiving that honor and words of affection, was a perfect ending.”
Thanks to these development initiatives, Vallourec prepares its employees to meet market challenges with technical, creative and innovative solutions. Learning continues on a daily basis, and this is how we build #BetterVallourecForYou every day.
