Incentivized Projects: actions that change reality!
At Vallourec, we are always in search of transformation. Inside or outside its walls, the commitment to actions that collaborate with good changes is guaranteed, which contributes to the growing social evolution of the areas where we operate. Proof of this are the many initiatives that count on the support of our company and that fills us with good prospects for the future. Last year alone, 67 projects were supported, benefiting more than 500 thousand people, directly or indirectly, in more than 30 cities.
Helping to open doors, create opportunities, discover new talents and improve people’s quality of life: are some of the beautiful attributes that a social initiative can have. In Vallourec, these activities are supported in several different fields, offering services that transform, for the better, the communities in the surroundings of our units.
All the projects that receive incentives are promoted through the State and Federal Laws for Sports Incentive; State and Federal Laws for Culture Incentive and the Elderly Fund, as well as the National Program to Support Oncological Care (Pronon) and the National Program to Support the Health Care of People with Disabilities (Pronas/PCD). The investments remain aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Some actions are also done through the Law of Incentive to the Fund for Childhood and Adolescence (FIA). The Responsible Tax campaign, for example, makes it possible to allocate part of our employees’ income tax to projects supported by the Company in the vicinity of the units. Money that would otherwise be paid to the Government now goes to those who need it most.
Let’s get to know some of these initiatives.
Mano Down Institute
The social project, based in Belo Horizonte (MG), has Vallourec as a partner company. The non-profit organization promotes the autonomy and inclusion of people with Down syndrome and other disabilities. What was initially aimed at socializing people with Down syndrome has been adding families and growing. Today, hundreds of families are assisted by the Institute, impacting thousands of people, directly or indirectly. Mano Down promotes the potential development in the whole life cycle of the person, focusing on inclusion and autonomy. Recently, our colleagues from Vallourec were at the Institute's headquarters to get to know the initiatives.
Hahaha Institute - Dr. Happiness
The socio-cultural organization promotes the art of clowning in health care spaces and vulnerable environments. With the support of Vallourec, through the Federal Law for Cultural Incentive, and in celebration of its ten years of activities, it has recently started an artistic residence in the Dr. Célio de Castro Metropolitan Hospital, in Belo Horizonte, with interventions once a week, bed by bed, performed by a clown duo. With the mission of putting laughter at the service of life, the Hahaha seeks to guarantee the right and access to art and culture for children, teenagers, adults, seniors, family members, health professionals, and technical staff. All actions are free of charge for the hospitals and spaces served.
Acessa BH Festival
The Acessa BH, sponsored by Vallourec, through the Federal Law for Cultural Incentive, is a free cultural project that aims at giving a leading role to people with disabilities, both on stage and in the center of the debates, and promoting an inclusive and democratic event, gathering people with and without disabilities in the audience. To do so, it invites artists with disabilities and inclusive groups to perform over three weekends. In its second edition in the capital city of Minas Gerais, in September and October this year, there will be six shows in nine presentations, five of which with audio descriptions and Libras, and one sensory show.
Movie Night
The Noite de Cinema initiative aims to contribute to the distribution of cinematographic production from Minas Gerais and Brazil, besides encouraging the population to exercise critical thinking about visual art. Sponsored by our company, through the Federal Law for Cultural Incentive, the project produces cultural events and promotes social interaction, regularly using public spaces for free activities.
IBEEC
The Brazilian Institute of Excellence in Sports & Culture (IBEEC) develops social and educational actions in communities and schools, serving children and teenagers after school. Sponsored by Vallourec, through the Federal Law of Incentive to Sports, the project contributes to the formation of worthy citizens, valuing young people as human beings and offering sports and cultural practices, besides school support and awareness of moral values. The 2021/2022 cycle has 18 active centers, 15 located in Minas Gerais, two in Pernambuco, and one in Rondônia. The benefited children and teenagers also receive a uniform kit with a shirt, shorts, and socks for free.
De Peito Aberto
The De Peito Aberto Incentivo ao Esporte, Cultura e Lazer is a social organization that promotes sports, education, health, and culture to young people. With the support of our Company, through the Federal Law of Incentive to Sports, it promotes initiatives such as Sport in the City, in the Barreiro region, in Belo Horizonte, and in other places in Minas Gerais, and A Bola e o Sonho, which recently concluded its annual cycle with the maximum number of beneficiaries.
These are just some of the projects that have the encouragement of Vallourec to get off the ground and, thus, help transform our reality!
The purpose of all this is to contribute to building a more socially just and balanced future in the communities where we are present.
