09/13/2024
Event

Vallourec participated as an exhibitor for the first time at the second edition of Hyvolution Chile, held in Santiago from September 3 to 5, 2024.

This event has established itself as a key platform for green hydrogen discussions and innovations in Latin America, attracting a diverse audience and numerous industry experts.

A widely attended event

Hyvolution Chile successfully completed its second edition, convening more than 4,391 visitors. The event positioned Chile as a central hub for green hydrogen discussions in Latin America, highlighting its importance as a significant space for reflection and advancement within the industry.

The conference and exhibition featured a well-attended congress with over 90 panelists, who provided insights and analyses on the current state and future prospects of green hydrogen. Additionally, 142 exhibitors, including 49 international participants, showcased their latest technologies and solutions. The discussions emphasized notable progress within the Chilean green hydrogen sector, which currently includes 74 projects, with nine operating at pilot scale and six undergoing environmental assessment.

Vallourec at the French Pavilion

Located within the French pavilion, Vallourec’s booth attracted visitors interested in learning about advanced hydrogen solutions. The company presented its innovative Delphy solution, representing a significant step forward in hydrogen storage technology, offering enhanced efficiency and safety. Delphy makes large-scale storage of compressed gaseous hydrogen possible at an unprecedented scale, between 1 to 100 tons, with safety as the main focus. Delphy stores compressed hydrogen in underground tube strings with a minimal surface footprint and a modular design adaptable to storage needs.

The booth facilitated numerous meaningful discussions, as Vallourec’s representatives interacted with a wide range of stakeholders, from industry experts to potential clients not only from Chile but across the entire Latin American region.

One of the highlights of Vallourec’s participation was the visit from Mr Cyrille Rogeau, the French Ambassador to Chile. The team present had the opportunity to present the Group’s new energy strategy, with a particular focus on hydrogen storage and the Delphy solution. His presence at the show underscored the strong bilateral ties between France and Chile in the realm of green hydrogen. During his visit, Ambassador Rogeau, alongside Chile’s Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow, signed a declaration of intent to advance technical and vocational training within Chile’s green and low-carbon hydrogen industry. This signing ceremony was a testament to the collaborative spirit driving the green hydrogen agenda in Chile.

Looking Ahead

The opportunities in the hydrogen market in Chile and across Latin America are significant and varied. As the region continues to explore and invest in green hydrogen solutions, Vallourec is well-positioned to contribute meaningfully to this transformative journey especially from its state-of-the-art hub in Brazil. The successful showcase of Delphy at Hyvolution Chile 2024 marks the beginning of what promises to be an important journey for Vallourec and the broader hydrogen community.
